Painted while in lockdown during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. My husband and I did not go out. Every trip to the grocery store was terrifying. During one grocery trip I decided we MUST have some flowers in our home, something bright and lively to cheer ourselves up. It became a mandate- something much needed for our mental health while confined. During this time I closely evaluated my definition of "essential". What was essential to me? I found my answers to be both practical and surprising. Flowers, nature are always essential for my well-being, as well as painting!
