Painted in the studio from a live bouquet of blue hydrangeas, the goal of this painting was to get right in the middle of the action. I wanted to put myself in the bouquet instead of viewing it from a distance, hence the title of "Vase Not Included". I started with a warm ground over watery burnt sienna, then I added titan buff and burnt umber. Lots of mark-making and play went into this painting, along with consideration for values and the edges. Private Collection
