Painted from a photo of winding Baltimore County roads in the fall. The leaves were bright and dusk was approaching when I snapped the photo from the car. Blurry photos make the best references!
While painting in the studio, I reflected on how my husband and I make a pilgrimage to see the leaves changing each fall. This photo was from one of those drives a few years ago. I liked working from the blurry, dark photo as it allowed me to fill in the gaps with memory and more recent encounters with changing fall leaves.
