abstract floral painting of hydrangea, purples, greens
The Undoing
Acrylic on Canvas
36x36

A live bouquet of hydrangea, stock, and eucalyptus inspired this painting. The arrangement was so large and regal that I wanted to tap into that same feeling for a larger-than-life 36x36 canvas. I wanted this painting to demand space and attention.

As I began developing the work over a few studio sessions, I began reading about hydrangea lore and I learned that hydrangeas were once thought to break hexes. As a boundary shrub, they were thought to protect from curses. "The Undoing" alludes to this lore.
