Inspired by the observant stare from one of the Roots Farm hens at the McDonogh School agricultural classroom in Baltimore, MD. Painted in studio from a photograph of the curious hen. Her stare was assertive, self-assured and quite calm. I felt seen by her, right to my very core. In reviewing my photos from the day I just knew I had to paint her portrait and make it large!
